Charles Mingus featuring Eric Dolphy - The Candid Recordings

This 1972 LP vinyl record from Barnaby Records in the USA is a gem in the jazz and post - bop genre. It's part of the Barnaby Candid Series, with the label number KZ 31034. The record is a stereo compilation in LP format, pressed in Terre Haute.

The tracklist includes 'MDM' (19:07), 'Vassarlean' (6:35), 'Stormy Weather' (13:25), and 'Lock 'Em Up' (6:47). It was recorded at Nola Recording Studios and pressed by Columbia Records Pressing Plant in Terre Haute.

Featuring great musicians like Charles McPherson on alto saxophone, Charles Mingus on bass, Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet and alto saxophone, and many others. The cover design is by Ron Coro, with a cover photo by Frank Gauna. The liner notes are written by Michael Cuscuna.

Note that it was recorded in November 11 (B2) and October 20 (others), 1960, in N.Y.C. Also, the track durations on the B - side are mislisted on the back cover and label, with the actual durations of 'Stormy Weather' and 'Lock 'Em Up' being switched.

If you want to enjoy this vinyl record, first make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the record on the turntable, and use the tonearm to lower the needle onto the starting groove. Sit back and let the smooth jazz and post - bop sounds fill your room. When you're done listening, lift the tonearm carefully and return it to its rest. Then, place the record back in its sleeve. To keep it in great shape, store it vertically in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid touching the grooves with your fingers as this can leave dirt and oils that may affect the sound quality. Also, clean the record periodically with a proper vinyl record cleaning brush to remove any dust or debris.
