This is an outstanding vinyl LP album by the amazing Jimmy Smith titled 'The Cat'. It was released in 1964 by Verve Records (V6 - 8587) in the US. The record features a great blend of Jazz, Blues, and music for Stage & Screen, with styles like Soul - Jazz, Hard Bop, and Theme. It was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on April 27th and 29th, 1964. The album has a gatefold cover with a printed inner company sleeve. Tracks include 'Theme From 'Joy House' written by Lalo Schifrin, 'The Cat (From The Motion Picture 'Joy House')' also by Lalo Schifrin, and many other great tunes. The album has a top - notch lineup of musicians, including George Duvivier on bass, Grady Tate on drums, and Jimmy Smith on organ.
